Background

Virtus transports us to a Cthulhu-inspired realm drenched in the dark glory of conquest and arcane lore. As prophesized, the apocalypse stirs the ancient slumber of the Great Old Ones. The plague bearer, Gladstone Archer, ushers in an era of despair. His influence transforms countless lives into breeding grounds for the unspeakable. Evil grows, trust erodes, and a palpable terror suffocates all mankind. Yet, from the shadows of this pandemonium, heroes emerge. In a triumphant clash, Gladstone and his legion are vanquished and sealed within the abyss...

Concept

Against this ominous tapestry, each Virtus deck presents itself as a mystical conduit akin to Pandora’s box, harboring the potential to unleash untold evils should its bonds break. The cards act as cryptic seals, sometimes depicting demons ensnared within.

Design

Drawn in a style where bleeding watercolors meet comic brushstrokes, a total of nine demon characters morph into creepy-cute monstrosities – grotesquely whimsical and morbidly amusing. It's a delicious irony that these formidable beings now serve as mere playthings for humans, their fearsome aura reduced to entertainment. Each shuffle and play through the deck would only reinforce the seals, ensuring the infinite containment of evils...
